Public Access Laws for Anoka County Inmate Data

Inmate data are public under state law with limits. The Sheriff cites Minn. Stat. § 13.82, Minn. Stat. § 13.85, and Minn. Stat. § 641.05 on the inmate locator page. The data is provided as is, with no guarantee of accuracy, currency, or fitness for a particular use. Medical, classification, and security data inside the jail file are closed.

Note: An arrest does not mean guilt; people are innocent until convicted, and pending case status should be confirmed through court files, not the roster.

Anoka County Jail Phone, Tablet, and Messaging

Inmate phone calls and tablet apps route through ICSolutions, the contract phone and tablet vendor. Family and friends pre-pay for calls and tablet content by depositing into the canteen account, then transferring funds to the debit account. Tablet content includes paid apps, e-messages, and music, as the Sheriff's Inmate Tablet System page lists. The county does not allow direct cash mail-ins or check deposits for tablet funding.

Phone calls are monitored and recorded, with limited exceptions for legal calls. The Sheriff also operates a Notices and Electronic Discovery page for defense attorneys who need to deliver case material to clients in custody. The Jail Division supports these official communication channels under the broader policy mission of safe, secure, and humane confinement.

Release From Custody and Next Steps

After release, the inmate's name continues to appear in the locator's released list for 30 days from the release date. Family members tracking a release can also register through Minnesota VINE for automatic notification by phone, email, or app. VINE is the state's victim notification service, with a toll-free line at 877-MN4-VINE (877-664-8463) and a web app at VINELink.

The court file does not close at release. Pending cases continue in District Court, with future hearings tracked on MCRO. Probation and pretrial conditions stay in force after release on bond. Conditions of release are listed in the court order; failure to follow the conditions can lead to a new warrant.

For longer-window release verification beyond 30 days, use the released inmates page on this site, which collects VINE, Minnesota DOC, and federal BOP locator info for state and federal sentences.
